Type of Construction: Major structural work was necessary in order to rehabilitate the vent structures of the Brook Ave. station in the Bronx. The deep excavation and demolition work required the 130" diameter x 30 ft deep caissons and the installation of soldier beams in concrete piers to stabilize and protect existing adjoining structures on Brooke Ave. The contract called for the replacement of the sewer main which required the installation of a bypass pumping system while the replacement was performed.
