Type of Construction: The Knick is a mixed use development of 49 loft-style condominium apartments over 10,000 square feet of ground floor retail space in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn. The design highlights the historic character of the space while offering modern, energy-efficient apartments and amenities, including a gym, a virtual attendant, storage, a bike room, and 19 parking spaces. The apartments feature high ceilings and solid oak floors, and many have exposed brick walls, arched windows, or generous private terraces. The Knick will be one of the first LEED Gold-rated multifamily developments in Brooklyn and will meet the energy efficiency standards of NYSERDA’s multifamily Energy Star program. Highly insulated construction featuring Energy Star low-thermal transmitting windows provide for a comfortable, low-maintenance interior environment with optimal heating and cooling costs. Each unit offers an ultra-high efficiency gas boiler and centralized A/C unit with no exterior wall penetrations. Compact fluorescent lighting, Energy Star appliances, and lighting occupancy sensors also ensure low long-term electric usage.
