Type of Construction: The Roscoe C. Brown Jr. Apartments is a 279 unit supportive housing apartment building near Crotona Park in the Bronx. Designed to blend into the surroundings by meshing the local architecture and the natural landscape of the area, it pays tribute to the geological history of the Bronx by brilliantly showcasing the 200 foot long, 30 foot high rock outcropping on which it partially sits. Divided into three buildings, it will provide needed housing in the area as well as a daycare center on the first floor. The building provides its tenants with recreation rooms, on site laundry, parking and a garden area atop the rock outcropping for all to enjoy.
